CBD flower is the dried flower of a hemp strain (Cannabis sativa L.) that is rich in CBD and low in THC. It is the flowering tops of the female plant, also known as buds.
At first glance, it looks like regular cannabis flower: the same appearance, the same trichomes. The difference lies in its composition: CBD is its main cannabinoid, and its THC content stays below 0.3%.
Each flower is unique in its strain, appearance and aromas. Not sure which one to choose? Take a look at our pick of the best CBD flower.
It’s one of the questions we’re asked most often, and it’s also what affects the price most. It all depends on how the plant was grown, and the product page for each flower shows its growing method:
| Growing method | Growing conditions | What you usually see |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor | Indoors, artificial light, controlled climate throughout the cycle | Dense, very aromatic flower; the most expensive to produce |
| Hybrid greenhouse | Glass greenhouse with supplementary lighting | Dense flower, a good balance between quality and price |
| Greenhouse | Under glass, in natural light | Slightly less dense than indoor, a lower price |
| Outdoor | In the open air, in direct sunlight, following the seasons | Airier flower, a profile that varies from one harvest to the next; the cheapest |
Indoor. Light, temperature and humidity are controlled throughout the cycle: nothing depends on the weather. The result is the densest flower with the cleanest aroma, but also the most expensive to produce. Examples include EUREKA (Tropicana Cookies), YUBA (Blue Dream) and ONIRIA (Amnesia); see our selection in the indoor CBD flower category.
Greenhouse and hybrid greenhouse. The plant gets the benefit of sunlight while staying protected. Most of our greenhouse flower is grown in a hybrid greenhouse, a glass greenhouse with supplementary lighting: the flower is slightly less dense than indoor, with a very good aroma and a lower price. This is our classic range, with GREEN LIME, CANDY KRUSH and LOWRIDER: see all our greenhouse CBD flower.
Outdoor. The plants are grown in the open air, in direct sunlight, following the seasons. The flower is usually airier and its profile varies a little from one harvest to the next; on the other hand, it’s the cheapest option. In our range, this is the case with THE ELDER (Space Queen): base genotype, the EU-certified strain KOMPOLTI; Space Queen-type phenotype. Analysis of batch B28621202200003 of 20 February 2025 (CTAEX laboratory): total CBD 10.69%, total THC 0%, total CBG 2.51%.
As CBD flower has grown in popularity, the range has expanded considerably: today you can find CBD versions of the aroma profiles of most of the major cannabis strains.
A strain’s genetics work on two levels. The base genotype is an EU-certified hemp strain, selected for its high CBD content and very low THC content. The phenotype, on the other hand, is selected for its aroma profile: this is what links it to big names such as Gelato, Amnesia, Lemon Haze or Gorilla Glue. For example, GREEN LIME has the EU-certified strain SANTHICA 27 as its base genotype and a Lemon Diesel-type phenotype, from a California Sour × Lost Coast OG cross.
On our product pages, “indica”, “sativa” and “hybrid” describe the plant’s growth habit: indicas are short and compact, with broad leaves, sativas are tall and slender, with narrow leaves, and almost all of today’s strains are hybrids of the two. These words refer neither to the species nor to legal status: botanically, there is only one species, Cannabis sativa L. To find out more, here are the differences between sativa and indica.
Alongside CBD-rich flower, we offer CBG-rich flower, another cannabinoid found in hemp. This is the case with SUAVE G (Lemon Sorbet): analysis of batch B33922202400001 of 4 August 2026 (CTAEX laboratory): total CBG 10.05%, total CBD 1.3%, total THC 0%. Our range also includes PALMERA G (Grape Ape).
A flower’s aroma profile depends mainly on its combination of terpenes. On the product page, the aroma wheel groups each strain’s notes into families. Here are the ones in our range, with a few strains where they stand out:
To compare several profiles, our flavour bundles bring together flowers from the same aroma family: Fresh citrus, Tropical, Floral skunk and Earthy kush.
Colour matters too: find out why some flowers take on purple hues in our article on purple cannabis.
Four pointers let you compare flowers before you order, and you’ll find them on the product page for each flower:
To find out more, read our guide to recognising quality flower.
Each strain has its own profile of cannabinoids (CBD, CBG…) and terpenes. Cannabinoids are measured in the laboratory: the results from the independent CTAEX laboratory are published on our certificates of analysis page (version of 12 October 2026) and shown on the product page for each flower. Here’s how to read them:
The aroma profile, on the other hand, is described on the page for each strain: it is not a terpene analysis. To find out more, we explain what CBD is.
All our flower comes in several formats, from a small bag to try a strain to a large format. Before you choose, bear one thing in mind: the larger the format, the less you pay per gram. The starting point depends on the growing method: indoor flower costs more than greenhouse, and greenhouse more than outdoor.
For a first order, or to try a new strain, the small formats are made for it: you can try without committing. Once you’ve found your favourite, move on to the large formats: that’s where the price per gram really comes down.
And if you can’t decide between several strains, take a look at the bundles: the Mini bundle of 5 premium CBD flowers, the Bundle of 8 premium CBD flowers, greenhouse and indoor and the Bundle of 9 CBD flowers. They’re the easiest way to find yours.
After harvest, drying and curing preserve the flower’s aromas. It is then packed in a sealed bag, which protects it until it is opened.
Once it’s with you, the simplest thing is to keep it in the same bag, closed tightly after each opening, in a cupboard or another dark, cool, dry place. Light, heat and humidity are the main enemies of its aromas. All our tips are in our guide to storing CBD flower.
CBD flower is not completely free of THC: it can contain traces. Ours contains less than 0.3%: in the 28 flower analyses published on our certificates page (CTAEX laboratory, version of 12 October 2026), total THC ranges from 0% to 0.12%. It all comes down to the strain: our flower comes from EU-certified strains, selected for their high CBD content and very low THC content. It is the same species as regular cannabis, with different genetics.
And does it get you high? No. CBD isn't psychoactive: the compound that produces that effect is THC, and our flower contains less than 0.3%. If you'd like to know more, we explain it in Does CBD get you high?, and the differences between the two plants in hemp vs cannabis.
In Switzerland, hemp with less than 1% total THC is not classed as a narcotic, and our flower contains less than 0.3%.

The price depends mainly on the growing method and the format: indoor flower is the most expensive, followed by greenhouse and then outdoor, and the larger the format, the lower the price per gram. Small buds and CBD trim are the cheapest options. The price of each strain and format is shown on its product page, in CHF, with customs duties and import taxes already included: you pay nothing more when the parcel arrives. If you’re on a tight budget, also take a look at our cheap CBD offers.
By eye, quality flower is dense, tight and resinous, covered in trichomes. Its colours are bright, in different shades of green, sometimes with purple hints, and orange pistils usually show that it was harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Its aroma should be clean and true to its aroma profile: a smell of hay or damp gives away poor drying.
With us, the product page for each flower describes its colour, density, trichomes and aroma profile, and gives its lab results where available. To find out more, read our guide on how to recognise quality flower.
In Switzerland, hemp with less than 1% total THC is not classed as a narcotic. All our flower comes from EU-certified strains and contains less than 0.3% THC: in the 28 flower analyses published on our certificates of analysis page, total THC ranges from 0% to 0.12%.
Our CBD flower is sold as a collector’s item, for decorative or aromatic purposes. We do not give advice on use: each product page describes the strain, its growing method, its aroma profile and, where available, its lab results.
CBD flower is sold as a collectible or aromatic product and is not regulated for consumption by combustion or vaporisation. That's why, at Cannactiva, we sell it solely for decorative, collectible or aromatic purposes.
It depends on the strain and the growing method. In the 28 flower analyses published on our certificates page (CTAEX laboratory, version of 12 October 2026), total CBD ranges from 10.69% to 29.71%, and indoor flower is generally at the top of the range. So-called “strong” CBD flower simply means flower with a high CBD content. The percentage in the product name is an indicative value for the strain; the lab results give the value measured in a batch. For example, GREEN LIME (Lemon Diesel) is listed at < 21% CBD, and the analysis of batch B309472029000002 of 7 October 2026 gives: total CBD 14.33%, total THC 0.05%, total CBG 0.17%.
Mainly CBD, its main cannabinoid, along with other cannabinoids such as CBG, traces of THC and terpenes, the compounds that give each strain its aroma. In the 28 flower analyses published on our certificates page, we measure 10.69% to 29.71% total CBD, 0.17% to 3.42% total CBG and 0% to 0.12% total THC. Our flower contains less than 0.3% THC.
Your CBD flower ships from our warehouse in Spain and is delivered to your home in Switzerland in 1–2 business days by UPS Express, for CHF 9.90. Delivery is free on orders of CHF 80 or more. You can also collect it from a UPS Access Point for CHF 6. Customs duties and import taxes are already included in the price: you pay nothing more when the parcel arrives.
That’s often how it’s described, but it isn’t quite accurate: hemp flower naturally contains traces of THC. Ours contains less than 0.3%, and some analyses go below 0.01%: for THE ELDER (Space Queen), the analysis of batch B28621202200003 of 20 February 2025 gives a total THC of 0% (Δ9-THC and THCA below 0.01%). By eye, though, it looks like regular cannabis: the same flowers, the same trichomes, comparable aromas. The difference lies in the genetics: EU-certified hemp strains whose main cannabinoid is CBD.
No. CBD flower isn't psychoactive and, unlike cannabis, it doesn't get you high or alter your perception. It comes from EU-certified hemp strains and contains less than 0.3% THC.
In several formats, from a small bag to try a strain to a large format for one you already know. The larger the format, the less you pay per gram. You’ll also find small buds, smaller flowers sold for less, and CBD trim. The available formats and their prices are shown on the product page for each flower.
Because controlling an entire environment (light, temperature, humidity, ventilation) throughout the growing cycle costs far more than making the most of the sun. The result is denser, more resinous flower, and that work is reflected in the price. Most of our greenhouse flower is grown in a hybrid greenhouse, a glass greenhouse with supplementary lighting: a compromise between the two, shown on the product page for each flower.
Our CBD small buds: small flowers from several of our strains, much cheaper because of their size. CBD trim, made from the fragments of flower removed during trimming, is usually the cheapest format per gram. And if you prefer variety, our CBD bundles work out cheaper than buying the flowers individually.
