In the summer of 2024, at Cannactiva we wanted to give a different kind of gift. Something that could be shared, that would last, and that you could come back to again and again. That is how the Cannactiva Harvest Edition was born: a limited-edition poker deck, illustrated by the artist Carmela Caldart, with 52 cards and 3 jokers (the Alchemist, the Merchant and the Thief), with its own suits — Sun, Water, Earth and Cannabis — and printed in Vitoria, at the same factory that has been printing Fournier cards for over 150 years.
We hope you enjoy the Harvest Game, designed to bring together two to six friends around a table and to remind us that playing is the most beautiful way to learn, to connect and to love one another. Below you will find the complete rules of the Harvest Game. Have fun! :)
Game overview
- Players: 2 to 6.
- Deck: Cannactiva Harvest Edition cards. 52 cards + 3 jokers (the Alchemist, the Merchant and the Thief).
- Suits: Water, Earth, Sun and Cannabis.
Objective
The aim of the game is to gather harvests. Each harvest is worth 1 point and is made up of four cards of the same value but of different suits. The player who collects the most points by the time the cards run out wins.
Starting the game
- Each player is dealt 5 cards. If there are only two players, 7 cards are dealt to each.
- Players hold their cards so that they can see them, but the others cannot.
- The remaining cards are placed face down in the centre: they will be called the “field” and will be shared by all players.
How to play
The game is played in turns, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
- On their turn, a player asks another for all the cards of a specific value (for example, the 3s). They can only ask for cards of a value they already hold at least one card of.
- If the player being asked has one or more cards of that value, they must hand them over.
- The player who has asked for the cards must say “thank you” when receiving them. If they do not, the player handing them over may keep them and also take from the requester any cards of the same value. After that, the turn passes to the next player.
- If the player being asked does not have any cards of the requested value, they reply “go harvest” and the requester takes a card from the field.
- If the card drawn from the field matches the requested value, the player shows it saying “good harvest!” and continues their turn, asking other players for more cards.
- When a player gets all four cards of the same value, they say “harvest!” and place those cards face up beside them. If it is still their turn, they may keep asking other players for cards.
- If a player runs out of cards on their turn, they take a card from the field and carry on playing.
The jokers
The Alchemist
The player who uses this card adds 1 point to one of their own harvests. It is placed on top of the chosen harvest.
The Thief
The player who uses this card steals a harvest from another player. Once used, it is shuffled back into the field.
The Merchant
The player who uses this card may look at every player’s cards for 5 seconds. Once used, it is shuffled back into the field.
End of the game
The game ends when the field runs out of cards and no more plays are possible. The player with the most points wins.
