Frequently Asked Questions

Hemp oil has no CBD because it is obtained from hemp seeds, which are naturally free of these components. Cannabinoids such as CBD or THC are only found in the flowers (buds) of cannabis, not in the seeds of the plant. In fact, the type of cannabis plant used to produce hemp oil is different from the type of genetics of cannabis plants used to produce CBD extract or marijuana buds. Therefore, the stigma attached to marijuana that hemp oil has should be removed: it is a totally edible and safe oil!

Hemp oil should be avoided by people with allergies to hemp seeds or to traces of mustard, gluten-containing cereals and lupins (possible allergens in the oil). Hemp seed oil has no other contraindications, and like all food oils can be consumed at any age, including children, pregnant women and during lactation. In case of diseases that require dietary restrictions, a specialist physician should be consulted and a dietitian-nutritionist should be consulted to discuss the type of diet to be followed.

It is recommended that they increase the amount of Omega 3 in their diet:

  • People with hypertension, high cholesterol, poor circulation and other cardiovascular diseases;
  • Dermatitis, dryness, itching and skin problems;
  • Anxiety, depression, lack of memory and concentration, hyperactivity and nervous problems.

We recommend that you use it raw: in dressings, dips and sauces: guacamole, hummus, salads, legume salad, rice, pasta…. It is also taken 1 teaspoon daily, with a glass of water with lemon, as a source of Omega 3. For cooking, we recommend using extra virgin olive oil. The Omega 3 in hemp oil is sensitive to temperature and, if cooked, is partially degraded.

As a guideline, it is recommended to eat about 30 €" 80 grams of fats per day, which could represent between 2-6 tablespoons of oil per day. It is advisable to include sources of healthy fats such as Omega 3, including hemp oil, and also monounsaturated fats Omega 9, such as extra virgin olive oil. The recommended fat intake varies according to the age and condition of the person, and also if a specific diet plan is followed, such as the ketogenic or high-fat diet, weight loss diets, diets for athletes or cleansing diets.

There is no set minimum or maximum dose of hemp oil that should be taken per day. It is a natural food that can be consumed as food oil, for dressings and recipes. As a natural omega 3 supplement, 1 teaspoon daily (5 ml) is sufficient.

An adult should eat 1.6 grams of Omega 3 per day. These needs change according to age, weight and individual health conditions. One teaspoon of hemp oil provides more than 60% of the adult daily requirement of Omega 3.

One teaspoon (5.7 mL) of hemp oil provides 1 gram of Omega 3. This is a considerable amount of Omega 3: you would need to eat a can of sardines (100 g.) to get the same amount of Omega 3!

The main advantage of buying hemp oil over other types of vegetable oils is that, in addition to tasting good, it is a natural omega-3 supplement. What differentiates it from other types of oils is its Omega 6 to 3 ratio in an optimum ratio of 3:1(6). There are other seed oils with Omega 3, but these also provide an undesirably high amount of Omega 6, which blocks the benefits of Omega 3 and may contribute to the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases(7). Hemp seed oil is one of the vegetable oils richest in Omega 3, which is the type of omega that exerts the greatest protective effects.

The properties of hemp oil are diverse, due to the fact that it is very rich in Omega 3, an important nutrient for health. Although there are hundreds of health benefits described for Omega 3, we highlight a clinical study that tested the possible beneficial effect of hemp oil for dermatitis. In the trial, 20 participants with atopic dermatitis consumed 30 ml of olive oil versus hemp oil over a 20-week period. The hemp oil group observed a subjective decrease in skin dryness and itching, as well as a reduced use of topical medications, while this effect was not observed in the participants taking olive oil. Although these are limited results, they suggest that hemp oil has beneficial properties and can be part of a healthy diet(2). Omega-3 supplementation has also been proposed for anxiety, with good results in clinical studies(3). On the other hand, Omega 3 is a component full of beneficial properties. It could have a positive impact on the intestinal microbiota, especially in cases of dysbiosis(4). In addition to its edible uses, hemp oil is also used in cosmetics, due to its ability to absorb UV rays and its high vitamin E content (100 mg/100 mL)(5). For this reason, at Cannactiva we also work with hemp oil in natural cosmetic products. On the other hand, people who are fond of home cosmetics can also try using this oil in their preparations and test the effect of hemp creams for the skin. Hemp oil provides a large amount of healthy omega fats, which are widely studied in nutrition and medicine for their benefits against cardiovascular disease, cancer, inflammatory conditions and chronic diseases(1). Omega 3, whose scientific name is linolenic acid, and Omega 6, linoleic acid, are nutrients that the body requires for good health and that should be obtained from the diet. The body uses omega fats to synthesize its structures, anti-inflammatory substances, and for the general wellbeing of the organism.

Among the benefits of hemp seed oil is its high amount of omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids, which makes it a natural source of anti-inflammatory fats. Hemp seed oil is used as a food oil to increase the Omega 3 content in diets for cardiovascular health, heart, brain and skin care, as well as in all types of healthy diets.

The nutritional composition of hemp oil is, as in all oils, 100% fat. This fat comes from hemp seeds. Almost 80% of these correspond to polyunsaturated fats, including Omega 3 (18%). It also contains vitamin E, a natural oil antioxidant. At Cannactiva we use organic seeds from organic farming.

Hemp oil contains 100% cold-pressed hemp seeds from certified organic farming. No pesticides toxic to health and the environment have been used in its cultivation. It is a food and edible oil, extracted from seeds. This oil does not contain THC, CBD or any other cannabinoids from hemp or marijuana. Therefore, hemp oil is safe for food use and has no psychoactive effects.

Oro Cannactiva organic hemp oil is a food oil obtained by cold pressing of peeled and lightly roasted organic hemp seeds. Only organic farming methods are used in the cultivation of the seeds. Yes. Hemp oil has food grade status and does not contain CBD and THC. Due to possible confusion with hemp derivatives, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) clarified in a report that hemp seeds and all their derivatives, such as hemp protein, are safe foods for consumption.

No, hemp oil does not affect drug testing because it does not contain THC, CBD or other cannabinoids.

Hemp oil is an edible vegetable oil made exclusively from the seeds of the plant. It is cannabinoid-free and has food grade status. CBD oil, on the other hand, is prepared from hemp flower (bud) extract, and may also contain hemp seed oil.
